Nona Bakes

By now, you’ve more than likely made your way into Downtown Little Rock, enjoying the sights, the sounds, and most importantly, the smells. Pushing open the door of Nexus, you’re greeted with the wafting scents of freshly baked pastries, breads, sweet treats, and all manner of goodies.

But, these don’t just get made overnight by some unseen face. No, if you’re a frequent visitor to Nexus, you’ve surely met the brains behind the bakery, Nona.

What was once a handful of cake pops set near the register, the final purchase of customers passing through, has blossomed into a lasting relationship between Nona and Amy. Officially joining the Narwhals in 2019, she quickly began whipping up delightful bites and baked goods in the kitchen, pushing the limits of her own craft to thrill the community.

“Nona has always had a love and passion for baking,” says Amy, “Her mother always wanted a bakery and now, Nona’s living out the dream in her honor.”

This past Friday, October 15th, 2021, Nona and Amy sealed the deal with an official partnership, launching Nona Bakes and celebrating with the community. If you managed to pass through, you were treated to samples of what Nona is offering outside of the typical treats found in the shop.

Whether it’s Nona Cakes, Nona Pops, or Nona Boxes (which can be assorted pastries, cinnamon rolls, or cookies), it’s clear that the ovens will be working overtime. At least we know there'll be plenty of love added to every bite.

“Nona loves her family. She loves the community of Little Rock and the team. To us, she’s the “shop mom” we didn’t know we were missing.”

If you’re interested in catering or contacting Nona for consultations (perhaps a cookie or two) you can reach us at nexuscoffeear@gmail.com, or follow the link to Nexus’ catering page.
