If We (Re)build It...

Over the last year, we as a community have banded together to find the light, the love, and the laughter to work our way through our shared hardships. We’ve lifted each other upon shoulders, firmly grasped hammer and nail, and through the devastation of 2021, we have rebuilt.

The journey of Nexus is far from over, but 2021 has proven that time and again, when our community, our extended Nexus family, comes together anything is achievable. You’ve attended live trivia, been serenaded on Saturdays, shared your lives with us, and through it all, been the support that Nexus has needed.

“Through points of pain, some of the biggest dreams form. Over the last year, we’ve rebuilt our mission, our team framework, and our values. All that led to a full rebranding, a new vision as the Nexus lighthouse. Our community vision has shifted to to focus on being a light to others and now, extending into the city. Light always wins, it drives out the dark, and we all have the capacity to hold it within us. Sometimes, all it takes is a helping hand to reach deep and find that light.” - Amy Counce

If there is one such story of a member of the community becoming family, you need look no further than the Nexus bakery and Nona Bakes. It just goes to show that someone can love a coffee shop, its Narwhals, and its mission enough to integrate themselves wholly into the thick of it. If you happen to catch Nona in a moment of reprieve, be sure to ask about her passion for baking and how her partnership with Amy and the Nexus crew helped to nurture that passion into a growing business.

There are not enough words to thank all of the amazing vendors, friends, family, and community members that have helped Nexus thrive and grow. There are not enough days in the year to truly show how happy we are to know each and every one of you. But, we can say this…

There will always be days shrouded in the fog of the times. There will always be days where we feel like we are lost. And while we may not all row the same boat, we do all float upon the same sea. So, if the bricks have fallen down, we will reshape the exterior with smooth stones. If the sycamore framework has warped and bent, we will replace it with cedars. If the ocean and wind try to sweep us away, we will look for the light in the distance and we will rebuild.

From the entire Nexus family, thank you for being a part of our journey and community. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to you all. We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store.
